[LISTEN] WhatsApp Stokvel member speaks out

A female member of a stokvel doing the rounds on Whatsapp says she decided to join the group despite warnings that she may not get her money back.
The woman told JacarandaFM News she joined by clicking on the link, even though she did not know the origin of the link.
Complaints have surfaced across the country from "WhatsApp Stokvel" members demanding their promise returns.
The scheme promises high returns in a short time span for an initial investment of R200.

Meanwhile, the National Stokvel Association of SA (NASASA) has addressed the unreliability of these stokvel groups.
NASASA has emphasised that these could be regraded as a pyramid scheme.
