Load shedding to continue during rush hour traffic
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Power utility Eskom says load shedding will continue throughout rush hour traffic on Tuesday afternoon.
The announcement by Eskom comes after its piloted programme on Monday, which sought to minimise the impact of load shedding on motorists and commuters between 06:00 and 09:00 and 16:00 and 18:00 daily.
"Due to higher than projected demand, and because some generating units were not able to return to service as expected, there will be no respite in loadshedding during the peak traffic hours of Tuesday afternoon," says spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha.
Stage 2 rotatioanl loadshedding is expected to remain in effect until Thursday at 06:00.
