Loadshedding ramped up to stage 4 'until further notice'

Eskom announced on Tuesday evening that load-shedding will be escalated from stage 3 to stage 4, effective almost immediately at 6pm.
The embattled power utility has continued to implement varying stages of load-shedding throughout the month of September, blaming it on a shortage of generation capacity and breakdowns at power stations.
The power utility implemented stage 3 load shedding on Sunday, which was meant to be maintained until 5 am on Thursday.
This was implemented following the shutdown of Camden Power Station in Mpumalanga due to de-mineralised water contamination last week, the first of seven generating units returned to service on Saturday evening.
At the time, a generating unit each at Duvha, Kendal, Komati, Kusile, Matimba, Lethabo, and Tutuka power stations were taken offline for repairs.
In the latest notice issued on Tuesday, Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha said a generation unit each at Kendal and Lethabo power stations had tripped.
"This necessitates the immediate escalation of load shedding to Stage 4 at 18:00. This stage of load shedding will be maintained until further notice," said Mantshantsha.
