Long distance Shosholoza Meyl train fully booked until next year

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) has announced that its long-distance passenger services are fully booked for 2022.
Shosholoza Meyl trail will be offering its last service for the year for the Musina and Queenstown, Eastern Cape routes today.
“Both train services (Shosholoza Meyl and Prasa) are fully booked, but remain open for bookings in the new year”, says Prasa spokesperson Andiswa Makanda.
Meanwhile, Prasa is entering one of the busiest times for travel of the year with between 200 000 and 300 000 people expected to move through the Johannesburg Park Station per day..
Makanda says this makes Park Station one of the biggest and busiest stations on the continent.
In keeping up with the demands for long-distance bus travel, Park Station has created a new terminus for five new bus operators, totalling up to 24 for the festive season.
“Prasa would like to advise travellers to plan ahead their journeys, prepare for long queues, and make sure they arrive promptly at the stations for a smoother journey.”
Access points are also being rehabilitated at Pretoria Station to alleviate traffic congestion at this main Prasa station in Tshwane.
“The Agency is pleased to remain at the forefront of an integrated transport system that responds to the needs of the economy and diverse demands of the public including offering convenient multimodal transport options to reach their final destinations”.
