'Low chance' of stage 8 becoming reality - Eskom
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Eskom says the possibilities of the country being pushed into stage 8 loadshedding are extremely low.

"But it depends on what happens on the systems so we cannot exclude any up in load shedding levels as such. We are not preempting beyond stage 6 at this point in time. It depends on what happens as we move along," the power utility's Isabel Fick says.
An unprotected wage strike by workers has put a severe strain on operations at Eskom's power plants.
The walkout prompted the power utility to this week implement stage 6 load shedding.
Stage two load shedding will now continue throughout the weekend.
In a press briefing yesterday, Eskom's Fick said there have also been no adverse effects on the transmission grid.
Eskom spokesperson, Sikonathi Mantshansha says eThekwini Municipality still remains exempt from the load shedding.
"That is because of the continuous problems, they are still trying to restore their network, and load shedding at this point might cause additional problems for the customers."
