Dr Nandipha Magudumana and her fellow suspects stand accused of aiding and abetting Bester in his escape from custody at the Mangaung Correctional Centre in May 2022.

Bester escaped after staging a fire inside his cell and was only rearrested in Tanzania in April.

Authorities had believed that Bester, dubbed the "Facebook rapist," had set himself alight in his cell at a privately-run prison in Bloemfontein in May 2022.

But in March, police said DNA tests proved that Bester had faked his death to make a spectacular jailbreak that has triggered a parliamentary inquiry and accusations of lax controls and complicity.

Magudumana’s father Zolile Sekeleni, who was in the dock alongside his daughter during her first appearance, has been granted R10 000 bail.

IT expert Teboho Lipholo and dismissed G4S employee Senohe Matsoara are also expected in court on Wednesday.

At the same time, two more people linked to Bester's prison escape are expected to make a first appearance in the same court on Wednesday.

The pair, who are both former G4S employees, were arrested on Monday at their homes in Bloemfontein.
