Mahlangu, Hlongwa matters to be resolved urgently – Makhura

The African National
Congress (ANC) in Gauteng says it will urgently deal with the appointment
of Qedani Mahlangu and Brian Hlongwa to its provincial executive
committee.
Both politicians are mired in controversy.
Mahlangu was MEC for Health in the province at the time of the Life Esidimeni tragedy while Hlongwa is facing allegations of corruption during his tenure at the same department.
Hlonga currently serves at the ANC’s chief whip in the Gauteng legislature.
The ANC’s newly election chairperson in Gauteng, David Makhura, addressed the media at Luthuli House on Monday.

Makhura said the issue was address at the provincial conference - which took place this past weekend - and an agreement was reached that they will wait for the party’s integrity committee to make a decision.
"They are matters that are before the integrity committee already and those matters have not been concluded and conference said those matters must be concluded immediately," Makhura explained.
He said there are also disciplinary proceedings against both Hlongwa and Mahlangu.
"If there something you want to understand on an update, it’s that the conference says these matters just be concluded with immediate effect. That’s really all we can emphasise."
Makhura asked the media to give the party the necessary space to deal with the issue.
