Mahumapelo: Mkhwebane is doing a marvellous job
Updated | By Lulutho Mkosi
Former North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo believes there is no reason to remove Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane from office.
This follows a motion by the Democratic Alliance (DA) to remove her as head of the Chapter 9 institution, a motion which was subsequently approved by National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise.

Mkhwebane has already described the process to remove as “grossly unfair and unconstitutional”.
Mahumapelo addressed the media outside the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Friday where a case of corruption involving fellow African National Congress (ANC) MP Bongani Bongo was heard.
He said no decision has been made by the governing party to remove Mkhwebane.
“There’s no decision to remove the public protector, the decision of the ANC is that Chapter 9 institutions must be supported and if there are issues relating to Chapter 9 institutions, those issues must be ventilated according to the rules of procedures that have been laid.
“Personally, as Supra Mahumapelo the member of parliament, I see no reason to remove the current public protector.”
