Mahumapelo's resignation will bring stability: Sanco
Updated | By Neo Motloung
The South African National Civic
Organisation (Sanco) in North West has welcomed the resignation of Premier
Supra Mahumapelo.
The embattled Mahumapelo announced his resignation on Wednesday amid growing calls for his head from residents in the province.
The civic organisation believes Mahumapelo’s departure is a step in the right direction and will hopefully lead to improved service delivery in the province.
"Whether is it an early retirement or a resignation but we see the essence of the absence of the person," says Sanco's chairperson, Paul Sebegoe.
Sebegoe says this will provide an opportunity to the African National Congress (ANC) to finally put the people of North West first, although he warns that the rebuilding of the province will not happen overnight.
"We believe very strongly that this development will bring stability in the province."
