Johannesburg Council Speaker Colleen Makhubele has called for calm amid anger at foreign-owned spaza shops in Naledi, Soweto.

The community is up in arms after two children died, allegedly after eating poisonous biscuits they had bought from the foreign-owned spaza shop on Sunday.
Two other children survived the incident and were rushed to in hospital.
The cause of the children’s deaths is yet to be confirmed as authorities have not yet released the results of the post-mortem.
Visiting the families of the victims on Wednesday, Makhubele called for calm.
" I do not think it serves us for the community to erupt in violence at this stage. We know that we are frustrated over what happened, but let us try to maintain some form of peace amongst ourselves.
"We do not know whether these foreigners were documented or not. We do not know who is inciting violence among community members," said Makhubele.
