Makhura applauds Mawela’s appointment

Gauteng Premier David Makhura has welcomed the appointment of newly appointed Gauteng Police Commissioner, Elias Mawela.
The Minster of Police Bheki Cele announced the appointment of Mawela at Mamelodi Police Station in the east of Tshwane.
Makhura says Mawela is a crime fighter and has vast experience.
“We have worked with General Mawela a lot, he has been in charge of many operations including Operation Fiela,” says Mawela.
Makhura adds crime is the number problem of the people of the province.
“It [crime] has bypassed jobs as the number one top concern of the people of Gauteng.”
He adds almost everyone is affected by crime in the province.
Gauteng Premier David Makhura says 50% of crime created in the province is committed in Gauteng.
“We need an approach to crime that treats Gauteng as a national priority. If our country wants to reduce crime, crime fighting in Gauteng has to be a priority.”
