Malema launches attack on 'those who sold out Mama Winnie'
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema launched a fiery attack on those who he believes betrayed struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela during the fight to liberate the country.
"We mentioned just some few incidences just to make them aware that we know what they did to you. We see you in your beautiful suits, betrayers, sellouts. We see you," a passionate Malema said at Madikizela-Mandela funeral at Orlando Stadium.
Thousands of people from across the political spectrum paid their final respects to Madikizela-Mandela in Soweto on Saturday.
"Mama died a dignified death because she died a revolutionary and not a sell-out," Malema said.
After Malema's speech the red berets poured out of the stadium.
Malema started his attack by taking aim at the former movement, the United Democratic Front.
"Mama, why did the UDF call a press conference to disassociate themselves from you? Because you were never a member of the UDF, you were a member of the ANC. You were the only one pronouncing the ANC in the 80s. Why did the UDF see the need to disassociate with a person who was not their member?"
Malema said many of the people who betrayed Madikizela-Mandela are now "crying the loudest" following her death.
