Malema warns DA over Trollip

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says it is targeting Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Athol Trollip because it "will hit the Democratic Alliance (DA) where it hurts".

At the same time, the party's leader Julius Malema says he does not care if Trollip manages to survive the motion of confidence.

"If Trollip wins he must not win with an EFF vote."

Malema says as the federal chairperson of the DA, Trollip was part of the decision not to support the EFF’s Parliamentary motion for the expropriation of land without compensation.

"This is a man who presides over a DA's federal council that took a decision not to support land expropriation without compensation," says Malema.

Malema says Trollip and the federal council decided not to support land expropriation without compensation because it seeks to restore the dignity of black people and rid the country of white supremacy.

"He must know the decisions he takes in the DA's federal council have consequences, both politically and personally.

"During the negotiation with the DA, they were prepared to give us Tshwane and Joburg. They were not prepared to budge in PE, they wanted to defend that white man with everything," says Malema.

The party has asked for a special sitting on April 6 to debate the motion against Trollip.
