Gauteng Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo says no taxi in the province should be a carrier of Covid-19.
Mamabolo made the comments at the Bekkersdal taxi rank east of Westonoria on Tuesday morning.

“We want to make sure that no single taxi is a carrier of the virus, because that can have far reaching implications for commuters,” he said.
As part of efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus, the department has embarked on a sanitising and disinfection campaign at taxi ranks across the province.
Mambolo says while the department has received support from the taxi industry, some drivers continue to flout passenger load regulations.
He warns that those drivers will face the full might of the law.
“We want to appeal to law enforcement to make sure that the might of the law prevails against the transgressors and those who are not compliant.”
