Mamabolo to taxis: Lockdown compliance non-negotiable
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Gauteng Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo has issued a stern warning to all taxi drivers who continue to break the law during the 21-day lockdown period.
Mamabolo's comments come as reports emerged over the weekend of taxi drivers operating outside the prescribed lockdown hours.
He said on Monday that law enforcement will not negotiate with taxi drivers.
"They will meet the might of the law, compliance with regulations is non-negotiable. The taxi industry was consulted, there is no targeting. There shouldn't be complaints they know the rules and they have agreed to it.
"The taxi industy please comply, that is non-negotiable and the law will take its course.”
