Mampintsha and Babes agree to counselling

Kwaito artists Mandla "Mampintsha" Maphumulo and Bongekile "Babes Wodumo" Simelane are heading for counselling.

The pair appeared at the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on charges of assault on Wednesday.

Mampintsha was arrested after a video of him physically attacking Simelane went viral on social media.

The court previously ordered him to have no contact with Babes. 

However, since then Maphumulo released a video on Instagram of a song ‘Khona Ingane Lay'Ndlini’ featuring Babes, DJ Tira and Campmaster.

Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority in KwaZulu-Natal Natasha Kara says the matter was postponed pending the assessment by the Family and Marriage Society of SA (Famsa).

"The accused and the complainant will go to Famsa and they will provide the court with an assessment on a suggestion the way forward this matter will go."

Mampintsha and Babes are expected back in court on June 11.

Simelane's other case at the Durban Magistrate's Court was postponed to May 30.

She and sister Nondumiso Simelane and fellow artist Thobeka "Tipsee" Ndaba are charged with common assault of businesswoman Nelisiwe Zondi.
