Man in court after selling drugs to undercover cop
Updated | By Sune du Toit
Police received a tip-off about a plan to transport the drugs to Mauritius, said Hawks spokesman Lieutenant Robert Netshiunda.
“A sting operation was conducted on Thursday after information was received that the Nigerian national had arranged for a mule to transport drugs to a destination in Mauritius. The man was arrested after he handed a laptop with 2kg of cocaine hidden in the lining of the bag to an undercover cop in Johannesburg,” he said.
“The suspect’s vehicle was also seized during the arrest.”
Head of the Hawks, Major General Mthandazo Ntlemeza, said: “One of our mandates is to prevent crime from happening and in this success our members deserve a pat in the back for thoroughly investigating a tip-off from an informer and subsequently arresting the drug dealer. The drugs would have caused more harm than good had they arrived in Mauritius.” - ANA
