Man found with body parts in fridge to undergo mental observation

The Protea Magistrate’s Court has postponed the case against Flavio
Hlabangwane to next week Tuesday for an application for him to undergo mental
observation.
National Prosecuting spokesperson for Gauteng Phindi Mjonondwane says the application comes after Hlabangwane tried to take his life twice.
“The court was informed that the accused attempted to take his life on two occasions, hence the application for his mental state to be examined.”
Hlabangwane faces a murder charge after a grim discovery was made, when body parts were found in his fridge where he was renting in Protea Glen, Soweto.
Mjonondwane adds that he will be detained in the hospital section of the prison in case he needs special care.
“The court further ordered that he be detained at the hospital section in Johannesburg Correctional Services as he may require medical attention and/or special care.”
