Man who killed Limpopo traffic cop arrested

A Limpopo motorist who was involved in a hit and run which left a traffic officer dead in Tzaneen on Sunday has been arrested.
The 40-year-old traffic officer, attached to the Greater Tzaneen Municipality in the Mopani district, was hit by a speeding car while performing point duty.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the accident happened at about 3.30pm on Sunday afternoon on the R36 near Tzaneen’s Macdonald market.
“The motive behind this accident is still unknown at this stage but police investigations will tell,” he said.
Ngoepe said the driver turned himself in at the nearest police station on Sunday evening.
The suspect will appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate Court tomorrow on Tuesday on a charge of culpable homicide.
