Manana arrives at court to face assault charges
Updated | By Marius van der Walt
Deputy Minister of Higher Education Mduduzi Manana has arrived at the Randburg Magistrates Court, where is set to appear on a charge of assault.
Manana is accused of assaulting a woman at the Cubana restaurant in Fourways over the weekend.
He has since apologised for the incident, saying despite the "extreme provocation" he should have exercised restraint.
Amid accusations of preferential treatment, Manana slipped into the building using a side entrance.
He spent more than an hour in an office at the court before appearing before the magistrate.
