Mandisa Maya nominated as next chief justice
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
President Cyril Ramaphosa has nominated Judge Mandisa Maya as the next Chief Justice of South Africa.
Maya currently serves as the Deputy Chief Justice.
Should she be successful, Maya will succeed Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, whose term comes to an end at the end of August, making the position vacant.
The Presidency's Vincent Magwenya says leaders of political parties represented in the National Assembly have now been invited to have their say.
"The president has drawn the attention of leaders of political parties to Judge Maya’s illustrious judicial career, in which she was first appointed as a Judge of the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court in 2000."
