Police have launched a manhunt for a group of armed suspects following a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist in Wolmaranstad.
The robbery happened on Thursday morning on the N12 between Wolmaraanstad and Klerksdorp in North West.
Police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe says the suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
"Just after 07:00 this morning a group of suspects travelling in four vehicles rammed into a cash van that was en route to Wolmaranstad from Klerksdorp causing the cash van to come to a standstill. They then proceeded to bomb the cash van," she says.
"The suspects also made off with firearms belonging to the security guards, while two rifles have since been recovered."
Mathe says the suspects fled in the direction of Wolmaranstad in three getaways cars.
