Manhunt launched for Mpumalanga prison escapee
Law enforcement is on the hunt for an inmate that escaped from the Barberton Correctional Centre in Mpumalanga on Thursday.
Amos Mashaba was serving life sentence for theft, rape, robbery, and murder before he broke loose.
It's unclear yet how the 46-year-old from Bushbuckridge escaped.
Correctional Services spokesperson Sechaba Mphahlele says investigations are underway.
"Investigation has been instituted and the department is appealing to the public to assist with any information that may lead to the re-arrest of the offender. He is dangerous and if spotted, information should be shared with the nearest police station."
