Manhunt for three prison escapees
Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt for the three awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from the Haenertzburg police holding cells near Tzaneen on Friday night.
Police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said the three were found to be missing during a routine check.
"The circumstances of their escape is still being investigated," said Ngoepe.
The escapees were identified as Abel Modiba (27), Thomas Nkuna (33) and Elia Makgaba (28).
They were arrested on charges of house robbery and armed robbery.
"A case of escaping from lawful custody has been opened and there have been no arrest," said Ngoepe.
