Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
A special parliamentary committee will today start a marathon session to interview shortlisted candidates for the position of public protector when Thuli Madonsela steps down.

Madonsela's seven year term comes to an end in October and her successor is supposed to be appointed by the end of this month.
The ad-hoc committee tasked with finding a suitable replacement for Thuli Madonsela will interview fourteen candidates today.
Her possible successors include deputy public protector, Kevin Malunga, Judge Siraj Desai and deputy national director of public prosecutions, Willie Hofmeyr.
Each candidate has been allocated an hour including 10 to 15 minutes to make a presentation followed by questions from committee members.
