Masemola: No suspects linked to Krugersdorp gang rape case yet
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
National police commissioner Fannie Masemola says none of the scores of suspects arrested in Krugersdorp have been directly linked to the gang rape of eight women yet.

Masemola and Police Minister Bheki Cele briefed the media in Pretoria on Monday.
“We are working on an investigation to see if some of those will be linked. That is still on but for now they are being charged for being illegal in South Africa.”
More than 80 suspects have been arrested since the rape of eight young women in Krugersdorp last week.
The women were part of a crew filming a music video near a mine dump.
The suspects are all expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Cele said the country’s police stations have more than enough rape kits to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.
“We want to affirm that there are no shortages of rape kits in any station. Indeed because of procurement we had a tough time and were instructed by the president to never again allow that to happen. We are looking after that. The top 30 stations that have high rape cases are even given cash to look after that.”
