This comes after confirmation by the Alexandra, Randburg, Midrand, Sandton Taxi Association (Armsta) that a single trip will increase from R12 to R30.
National Taxi Alliance (NTA) spokesperson, Theo Malele says the meeting with Mbalula is to discuss the possibility of remuneration taxi operators lost during the lockdown.

"We have these engagements would seek to pave future support for the taxi industry and it should be a once-off thing.
“As we know, the taxi industry is not supported by government and the taxi industry has been charging charitable fares and not market standard," says Malele.
Malele says no taxi fare increase has been announced by the NTA yet.
