Mbongeni Ngema's funeral to be held on Friday

The funeral service of the late internationally acclaimed playwright, composer, director, and singer Dr Mbongeni Ngema is set to take place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (Durban ICC).
The funeral service is expected to start at 9 am.
Ngema died last week Wednesday at the age of 68.
The Verulam-born legendary playwright and musician perished in a head-on collision while returning from a funeral in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape.
President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday declared a Special Provincial Official Funeral Category 2 for Dr. Ngema.
Dignitaries and mourners from across the spectrum, including family, members of the Provincial and National Government, artists, diplomats, and the community will pay their final respects to one of the country’s iconic activists and artists.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube is expected to deliver the eulogy at Dr. Mbongeni Ngema’s Special Provincial Official Funeral.
The Woza Albert, Asinamali and Sarafina creator as well as Stimela SaseZola hitmaker, used his creative excellence to raise awareness about the injustices of apartheid and highlighted the plight of South Africa’s oppressed people.
