The vocal #FeesMustFall leader was arrested at the weekend and faces at least five charges.

Dlamini faces charges of theft, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of dangerous weapons, public violence and malicious damage to property.

Yesterday the state requested a postponement in order to clarify his date of birth and home address off campus.

His lawyer Mongezi Ntanga says there seems to be some confusion with some of the paper work stating that Dlamini was born in 1986 while others say he was born in 1983.

"He provided his date of birth, that he was born in 1986 while the state has information that he was born in 1983," Ntanga told Jacaranda FM News.

Students who came to court to support him expressed their disappointment when he was remanded in custody.

Student leader Shaeera Kallla says they are being targeted by police in order to stifle the movement.

"The charges are absurd. We know that Mcebo has fought against police violence but to say that the man is a thief is far-fetched and part of efforts to delegitimise student leaders," Kalla said.

Kalla added that he is not guilty of anything but that he is merely fighting for the right of poor students
