A Metrobus with some 50 passengers on board caught alight on route from Northgate to Yeoville in Johannesburg on Monday.
Spokesperson for Metrobus Goodwill Shiburi says the bus burst into flames on Monday afternoon.
“The incident took place on Monday afternoon when the bus from Northgate to Yeoville caught fire in Hillbrow and it was a full bus.
“We happy though that the driver was able to evacuate all passengers therefore we didn't record any fatality or injuries on that day.”

Shiburi says that the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
“Currently there is investigation underway to determine the cause of the fire. So I'm unable to tell what actually caused the fire.”
Shiburi says the fire has not affected services.
“This is just one bus and lucky enough we had another bus that was following the same one.
“So we were able to get our passengers one to the other bus to get to destination safely. And then yesterday we're able to replace that shift with a second bus that was able to deal with the vacuum created by the bus.”
