Midday Edition: Open cards in nuclear deal

NUCLEAR DEAL - Government will play open cards regarding the proposed nuclear deal.
The Minister of Energy, Tina Joemat-Pettersson, says no final decision has yet been taken, and any amounts currently discussed are unconfirmed until Cabinet takes the decision to sign any deal for the construction of nuclear plants.

DA'S PLANS FOR JIBA - DA leader Mmusi Maimane has described the controversial Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions, Nomgcobo Jiba, as an obstacle in the judicial path.
He told supporters outside the Silverton Head Offices of the NPA that they've filed a court application to compel President Jacob Zuma to hold an inquiry into the fitness of Jiba to hold office.

DECLARATION TO SAVE STEEL JOBS - The Mineral Resources Minister, Ngoako Ramatlhodi, has signed a declaration to save jobs in the embattled mining industry.
The document by the task team has also been signed by the Chamber of Mines and various unions following fears that up to 30 000 jobs could be lost...

MORE DRAMA FOR RWC SPRINGBOK SQUAD - The Springbok rugby team is facing a new challenge, 12 days before they are expected to leave for England and take part in the Rugby World Cup.
A political party, called Agency for a New Agenda, has brought an application for an urgent interdict to prevent the Springboks from taking part in the tournament.
Spokesperson Edward Mokhoanatse says their case will be heard by the High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday...
