RAND WATER STRIKE - It's back to the drawing board for Rand Water and unions to find a workable solution before workers go on strike. 


The parties were at the Labour Court in Johannesburg this morning, where Rand Water's application for an interdict was not granted. 


Instead, the Court told the parties they first need to iron out what the strike would look like, since Rand Water delivers an essential service to four provinces.

OSCAR PISTORIUS PAROLE DELAY REACTION - The Progressive Women's Movement of South Africa wants an investigation into the Parole Board decision that would have seen Oscar Pistorius released under correctional supervision tomorrow. 


This process has been delayed after the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Michael Masutha, received a petition signed by women from some 70 organisations. 


Pistorius is currently serving a five year jail sentence for the shooting and killing of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

PRIMARY SCHOOL GIRLS RAPED - Two 7-year old school girls are receiving counselling at home, after it emerged that they could have been raped by six boys, aged between 7 and 10, on the school grounds of the Rebonthseng Primary School in Vosloorus. 


Gauteng Education spokesperson Phumla Sekhonyane says they're demanding answers from the school...


 


MONTE MURDER - JP Malan has been sentenced to life behind bars for the murder of Dustan Blom, whose body was found in the boot of his car parked at Monte Casino in September 2013. 


His accomplice, Maruschka Robinson, received a sentence of 29 years in jail. 


Judge Delize Smith handed down sentence in the High Court in Johannesburg and had harsh words for the two, saying that it was a planned murder that was executed in cold blood.
