Minister in the Presidency for Women Maite Nkoana-Mashabane has pleaded with the business community to play a bigger role in the fight against gender-based violence.
Mashabane spoke during the official visit by German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the Union Buildings on Thursday.
Nkoana-Mashabane called on businesses to play an active role in the fight against the scourge of violence against women and children.
“Business partners should be concerned, fast-tract implementations to defeat patriarchy that is pushing back frontiers and making it difficult for women to make contributions to this capable state.”
She added: “Changing the attitude of men and boys, we took a decision to look at prevention strategies, behavioral change, campaigns and as well as adequate support for victims, survivors, and counselling services and improve investigations.”
