Minister releases more details on National Health Insurance
Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has released details of the National Health Insurance (NHI) white paper.
Motsoaledi says the NHI represents a substantial policy shift that will necessitate a massive re-organisation of the current health system, both private and public.
"There is a word 'all'. It says 'all South Africans'. Medical aids selects few South Africans, mostly those who are employed," Motsoaledi says.
Cabinet has approved the White Paper on the National Health Insurance, to be gazetted as a policy document.
