Mist leads to numerous collisions
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Some 50 people were injured this morning following numerous collisions on the N12 between the Etwatwa and Putfontein Road turnoff in Benoni, Johannesburg.
ER24 spokesperson Russell Meiring says paramedics, along with several other services, responded to the scene after hearing reports of numerous collision, apparently caused by the heavy mists.
Meiring says paramedics found that there had been several collisions along the N12, some involving minibus taxis.
"Paramedics went from one collision to the next, assessing and treating the patients," Meiring says.
According to Meiring, ER24 paramedics treated and transported a total of 22 patients. The injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
"Other services on scene treated and transported approximately 30 other patients to various hospitals," Meiring says.
