Public protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane has landed in hot water following a speech in which she claims that only God can remove her from office.
Mkhwebane has been slammed after she made the statements during a speech to the SA Sheriff’s Society in Mpumalanga on Friday evening.
The speech was live-tweeted via the Public Protector’s Twitter account.
“I know some of you may not be Christian but I strongly believe I was placed in this position by the God that I serve and I believe that only He can remove me if He is of the view that I have failed,” reads the Tweet.

Mkhwebane has come under fire for her findings against Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan and the controversial Vrede Dairy Project.
Social media users have pointed out that she has been appointed by citizens through Parliament and was accountable to them rather than a higher power.

So now you’re doing God’s work?? 🙄 I ask myself, if you were working for the Gupta faction, how would you behave , and the answer is pretty consistent with the way you are behaving. #lawofparsimony @PublicProtector
