Mokgoro to be sworn in as North West premier
Updated | By Thabo Tshabalala
Tebogo Mokgoro is set to be sworn in as North West premier on Friday.
He succeeds Supra Mahumapelo, who resigned last month following violent protests in the province.
Political analyst Amanda Gouw believes the African National Congress (ANC) has made the right call in selecting Mokgoro.
“The selection of Job Mokgoro as Supra Mahumapelo’s successor as North West premier is a good choice.”
She says Mokgoro is a person of integrity who understands what it means to be a public servant and won't tolerate corruption.
But the Congress of the People’s (Cope) Pakes Dikgetsi believes despite Mokgoro credentials he won’t be able to bring stability to the embattled province.
“Mr. Mokgoro is not a politician. He is a career civil servant, a professional and an academic," says Dikgetsi.
Dikgetsi says Mokgoro is a temporary solution, and won't be able to resolve the crisis in North West.
