Molefe challenges Prasa board dismissal in court
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
The former chairman of the board of the Passenger Rail Agency (Prasa) Popo Molefe, and members of the now-dissolved board, will turn to the High Court in Pretoria to challenge Transport Minister Dipuo Peters' decision to dismiss them.

Peters dismissed the Prasa board days after acting CEO Collins Letsaolo was also sent packing, for allegedly awarding himself a 350 percent salary increase.
In his founding affidavit, Molefe accuses the minister of removing the Prasa board as parts of efforts to block his probe into corruption at the entity totalling some R14 billion.

Molefe claims the minister's actions are meant to frustrate the successful outcome of these investigations.
He says the removal of the relevant directors clearly threatens the constitutional principal of legality and the operations in Prasa.
Molefe is asking the court to have Peters' decision set aside, despite the fact that an interim board is already in place.
