More than 400 000 healthcare workers now vaccinated in SA against Covid-19

A total of 414 372 healthcare workers have now received their Covid-19 vaccine, as the country gears up for its mass vaccination drive to kick off next week.
According to the latest report by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, a total of 10 931 906 coronavirus tests have been done since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
"Of these, 26 075 tests were conducted since the last report," says the minister.
"Today, 71 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 3, Free State 23, Gauteng 16, Kwa-Zulu Natal 5, Northern Cape 16 and Western Cape 8 which brings the total to 54 896 deaths."
Provinces that had no deaths related to Covid-19 complications are Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West.
The department of health recorded 1 548 new cases of Covid-19 in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday evening, which brings the total number of confirmed cases to 1 599 272.
