The crowdfunding initiative that was launched to help the
family of the 7-year-old girl who was raped
at a Dros restaurant
in Silverton has now raised more than
R100 000.
The BackaBuddy campaign - which has surpassed R130 000- was started by an anonymous donor to raise funds for therapy sessions for the child and other needs the family might have.
BackaBuddy Chief Operating Officer (COO), Catherine Du Plooy, says they are in contact with a family representative and are in talks about how and where the family needs assistance.
Du Plooy some people who have not made a financial contribution have asked to assist the family in various ways.

"It's amazing to see how through this campaign - not just financial means have been raised - but also people who have come forward in different ways that they would like to offer their support to the family," Du Plooy says
Du Plooy says they are hoping to get R150 000 before closing the campaign next week Friday.
