More rain predicted as Polokwane mops up
Updated | By Martine van der Walt Ehlers
Several areas in and around Polokwane were hit by damaging floods on Saturday as heavy rains left the local mall under water.

Parts of the Savannah Mall were flooded due to the severe downpour.
The shopping centre's management has apologised to customers for the inconvenience and confirmed that cleaning crews are hard at work.
The mall's banking court was completely under water following the severe storm.
Meanwhile, the municipality says the city's drainage system wasn’t able to deal with the heavy rain, which contributed to the flooding.
"The situation is currently under control,” says acting municipal spokesperson Lepotse Sithole.
"Our technicians opened some outlets yesterday, to let the water flow as quick as possible.
"We did not however receive any reports about additional damage caused by the rain.”
Polokwane residents took to social media to share photos of the flooding.

The South African Weather Services, meanwhile, say that they remain on high alert, with the possibility of more rain in Limpopo.
"We are monitoring the area very closely, however, currently we do not have a watch for severe thunderstorms", says forecaster Khumsa Masizana.
