He made his second court appearance in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Friday, with several ANC members coming out to show their support.
Bongo is accused of offering a bribe to Ntuthuzelo Vanara, the evidence leader of the parliamentary inquiry into the capture of Eskom by the Guptas.
The case was postponed to February 21 when it is set to be transferred to the high court.
Speaking outside court, Zwane said the truth will emerge during the trial.
“We are positive that the case will go its full mile and the people of South Africa will know the truth.
“This story has been running in the media, one-sided and one side of the story has been given to all South Africans all the time, so it is a sensible thing that comrade Bongo finally gets a chance to say his side of the story.
“It is now becoming a norm that he is corrupt, and he has done this and this, without really putting his side of the story.”
