The N3 Toll Concession says clean-up operations are underway at the Mooi toll plaza and motorists have been advised to take alternative routes and expect delays.
On Friday 23 trucks, including a tanker carrying highly flammable dangerous goods and a car carrier, were set alight during #FreeJacobZuma protests.
N3 Toll Concession spokesperson, Thania Dhoogra says all the vehicle fires have been extinguished.
"Light motor vehicle traffic is currently being diverted around Mooi River; southbound light motor vehicle traffic is being diverted on Midway to Nottingham road, whilst northbound light motor vehicles at Midmar back to the N3 at Tiverton and heavy motor vehicles are being stacked on the scene," says Dhoogra.
"Motorists are advised to please expect congestion and delays whilst this diversion is in place."
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Jay Naicker says officers are on high alert after 26 people were arrested on Friday night.
He says officers from across the province have been deployed in all districts.
"These police officers will be deployed along major routes and key points within each district to deal with criminal elements that are responsible for recent incidents of lawlessness,” says Naicker.
“We will be focusing on enforcing regulations of the disaster management act, more especially the convening of illegal gatherings and those who are not observing curfew.”
