Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The number of people who have died after a collision between a minibus taxi and a truck in Mpumalanga has risen to 18.
Provincial Community Safety, Security and Liaison Department spokesperson Joseph Mabuza says 15 people are still in hospital.
"When we total the number, it takes us to 33 people who were occupants in the vehicles," says Mabuza.
A minibus taxi and truck collided head-on on the R561 before another taxi then collided with the two vehicles.
It's believed the truck was coming from Badplaas and the two minibus taxis from Machadodorp.
"The police have started with the investigation. They have sent a team of investigators to the hospital to take statements from the survivors," says Mabuza.
