Mpumalanga crash death toll could rise
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
14 people have been killed after a minibus taxi collided head on with a truck.
Another on-coming minibus then crashed into the accident scene.
The incident happened on the R561 in Mpumalanga.
It's believed the truck was coming from Badplaas and the two minibus taxis from Machadodorp.
Provincial Community Safety spokesperson, Joseph Mabuza, says the death toll could rise.
"Up to so far we have counted 14 bodies. 13 died at the scene and one died on the way to the hospital. However some of the passengers are trapped under the taxi so this is a developing story. We have closed off the R561 for traffic" says Mabuza.
Mabuza says 16 people have been rushed to Belfast Hospital and one has been airlifted to Nelspruit.
