Mpumalanga cop in court for killing wife with beer bottle

A police constable from Mpumalanga is set to appear in the Barberton Magistrate's Court on Wednesday for allegedly stabbing his wife to death and the attempted murder of another woman.
The 34-year-old police officer was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
He is attached to Public Order Policing in Hazyview.
According to police, a scuffle is believed to have broken out between the police officer and his 28-year-old wife at a liquor outlet.
Police spokesperson Selvy Mohlala said the cop allegedly stabbed his wife with a beer bottle.
"Another female, who was trying to diffuse the situation, was also injured. Police and paramedics were summoned to the scene.”
Mohlala said the suspect's wife was certified dead on the scene while the other woman was taken to hospital.
"The suspect, who was also injured, was found at the scene. A murder case and attempted murder were registered, which led to the member's arrest. He was also taken to hospital for medical attention."
