Cele to take ethics findings on review in ‘shut up’ incident
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Police Minister Bheki Cele says he will be taking on review the findings of Parliament's Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests on his altercation with an anti-crime activist.

On Monday, Cele was found guilty of breaching the code of ethical conduct for MPs after yelling "shut up" at Action Society’s Ian Cameron during a police imbizo in Gugulethu in 2022.
Cameron interrupted Cele during the imbizo accusing him of failing to protect Nyanga and Gugulethu citizens.
Cele responded with a threatening tone, telling the Action Society leader to “shut up”, Cameron was subsequently removed from the venue.
A video footage captured on the day went viral on social media, and it was also played to the committee.
The committee recommended that Cele apologise to Cameron in front of members of the National Assembly.
During a media briefing on Tuesday in Western Cape, Cele told reporters that the sanction was “laughable”.
"We are taking this to review, we don't agree with it. There are steps that can be taken going forward, we absolutely do not agree with this outcome. The minister of police will be taking this on review."
