Mpumalanga mother in the dock for killing infant
A 24-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of her 3-month-old baby.
The 24-year-old briefly appeared in the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Mpumalanga Monica Nyuswa says the woman allegedly threw her child on the floor during an altercation.
"It is alleged the woman and the baby visited the man [father of the child] on the farm where is works near Middelburg on Friday.
"When she arrived with the baby the man refused to let them inside.
"She allegedly threatened to kill their baby if the man didn't open the door," says Nyuswa.
The case was postponed to Tuesday for a bail application.
