Rabela Jones (71) and 46-year-old Godfrey Jones appeared in court on Wednesday, alongside former Eskom employee Thandeka Nkosi.

The trio was arrested by the Hawks in Middelburg on charges of theft, fraud and money laundering.

The charges relate to the fraudulent procurement of pumps at Arnot power station in 2015.

Hawks spokesperson Dineo Sekgotodi says the three are accused of defrauding Eskom of R14 million.

“Thandeka Innocentia Nkosi and Godfrey Jason Jones were granted R100.000 bail each while Rabela Sara Jones was granted R30.000 with the reasons that she is old and chronic.

“Their case was postponed to 5 May 2023 for tracing of the fourth accused who failed to appear in court despite being informed. A warrant of arrest was issued against him. Investigation continues.”
