ANCYL Free State: 'Zuma will never go to prison under our watch'

The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in the Free State says former president Jacob Zuma will not end up in prison despite the issuing of a warrant of arrest.
Judge Dhaya Pillay issued the warrant against Zuma in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday.
It will only be acted upon if Zuma fails to appear in court on May 6.

This comes after Zuma did not appear in court on Tuesday, where he faces charge of corruption related to the multibillion-rand arms deal.
Zuma's legal team handed in medical documentation to support him having to receive medical treatment abroad.
ANCYL Free State spokesperson, Sello Pietersen, encourages the former president to re-submit a sick note to the courts on May 6.
"We respect the rule of law in this country as a democratic organisation, but what we are against is when there are some elements who would want to use the rule of law to fight political battles against President Jacob Zuma."
"President Zuma has never missed a day since 2005 of going to court, so there is no reason to believe that he would have deliberately or intentionally not wanted to appear before a court of law," says Pietersen.
He adds that the ANCYL in Free State will be mobilising their own medical doctors to assist Zuma.
